Summary Box Toll Brothers’ 4Q profit falls

THE DETAILS: Home deliveries rose 8 percent in the quarter, while net signed contracts climbed 15 percent. Backlog units increased 12 percent.

OUTLOOK: Management expects to deliver between 2,400 and 3,200 homes in fiscal 2012. That works out to an 8 percent drop on the low end of the range and an increase of 23 percent on the high end.

THE PERFORMANCE: Luxury homebuilder Toll Brothers Inc. reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of 9 cents a share on revenue of 7.8 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet predicted earnings of 5 cents a share on revenue of 4.3 million.
