Last year I introduced Swedish eyewear designer, Anna-Karin Karlsson to you all, I’m a big fan of her designs and this year she’s back with more amazing designs. The theme behind the 2013 collection is heavily symbolic. Anna-Karin took time out from the rest of the world and moved to a cottage in the Swedish countryside in order to realise her ambition of creating couture eyewear. In the dark forests of northern Sweden, Anna-Karin’s determination and vision had few distractions and she worked continously and obsessively. ”Perfecting the Art of Dying Alone”, the title of her 2013 collection derives from working around and engaging in themes of grief and mourning. The collection was created to show the beauty and sorrow of sacrifice and the perishability of it all.

For 2013 she brings back some of her classic styles along with new styles featuring animals, flowers and three dimensional prints decorated on heavy graphic frames. The expression is beautiful, strong and whimsical. Some of the new styles are ”Mourning for Miss Blow” is a tribute to the fashion legend Isabella Blow, who Anna-Karin had the honor of working with in her early years. Originating from her song ”One Trick Pony” the eyewear design ”Black Horse” is Anna-Karin’s most sculptural work to date. ”People want things with a heart – with thought and depth – and I want my designs to live a beautiful, romantic life.”

I’ve been thinking about doing a juice cleanse forever but never thought I’d survive on just juice so I put that thought away until I came back from my long trip from Asia. I’ve just started to edit more photos from my Hong Kong trip which seemed to have happened so long ago but it was just a few weeks ago. Sometimes I feel like just packing a bag and flying to HK for a quick trip but too bad it’s 15+ hours away from NYC! I really miss HK and wish I can live there at least 1/3 of the time. Whenever I’m in HK, I always like to ride the trams aka “ding ding“, it’s slow but I just love the double deck iconic trams. I’m so bad with trip photos, need to figure out a system to be more efficient lol, there’s just so much photos to choose from! More soon!

I can hardly contain myself when I got the news that Phillip Lim is the next designer collaborating with Target! The 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collection for women and men will be available September 15th at most Target stores and Target.com. The  limited edition collection features a range of apparel and accessories, including shoes, bags and travel accessories.

“Since an early age, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of design evolution,” said Phillip Lim. “One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire – one that is cool and chic, but still very accessible.”

Come September you can expect to see a “classic fall palette of neutral tones and prints,” the collection features more than 100 items and ranges in price from .99 to 9.99 for apparel and .99 to .99 for accessories. Standout pieces include bags, dresses and a trench coat for women, and shoes and a leather moto jacket for men. Travel accessories, such as a duffle and multipurpose pouches for women and men, round out the collection.

For the fifth year, I was honored to be invited by Coty to be their guest at the 7th annual Coty-Delete Blood Cancer/DKMS Gala (note change of name). The gala was held at Cipriani Wall Street, and was hosted by TV personality and celebrity designer Nate Berkus and co-Founder of Delete Blood Cancer, Katharina Harf, with special live performances by Grammy Award–winning artists Jill Scott and Lady Antebellum. Celebrity and designer guests included Katy Perry, Anja Rubik, Coco Rocha, Georgia May Jagger, Vera Wang, amongst others.

It was a magical night, especially when the donor meets the person whom he/she saved for the first time, it brought tears to many eyes. Definitely an unselfish act, very emotional. And how gorgeous was the atmosphere, the stage setup was so amazing especially when the light changes!
