It was hailing out in NYC on Wednesday (can you believe it?) but it was HOT up at the Havaianas Brazilian Marketplace! Havaianas hosted a bloggers/influencers event to showcase their 2011 products and treated us to some Brazilian treats along with customized flip flops! I had the pleasure of customizing my own “Make Your Own Havaianas” (launching Monday, April 25th), added my initials, a bee and a skull on a pair of grey/purple flip flops. Hung out with some of my favorite gurls and guys, and I’m loving the new Havaianas unisex sneakers and espadrilles (launches in the US on Monday, March 28th)! The insole of the sneakers and espadrilles are made of their super comfy flip flops, how smart? Can’t wait to run around in the sneakers! Fun times, great job Christine!

Rihanna is being sued for copyright infringement by David LaChapelle. complaint below. LaChapelle is an artist and photographer. If you do not recognize his name, I am sure you know his brassy, hip, and edgy work. (See clip below.) He has helped transform the way pop culture is marketed in print advertisements, commercials, and, for our purposes, music videos. If you watch Rihanna’s music video, S&M, you will see that it has been duplicated and derived from Mr. LaChappelle’s work.

The suit, which asks for at least million in damages, argues that the video is “directly derived from and substantially similar to” photographs (below) he has created and published that show, among other things, a dominatrix walking a chained man on a leash, a woman in latex headgear and another woman (Lady Gaga, to be precise) wearing only screaming headlines. So what is with Kohl’s not really having a Facebook.  Only a little over 10,000 fans doesn’t really count. Facebook is free interaction with consumers, along with twitter. The show is about their photo shoots, for fans to keep involvement with their clothing lines. I work as a recruiting assistant and I have been uploading videos of inside the classrooms, for high schools get involved and get an inside look. I thought of this idea six months ago, too funny. Gap also has a mobile application, that is called Style Mixer. I love mobile apps for clothing stores, because I am a shopaholic! I like that I don’t have to go to the website on my iPhone to look at the clothes, I can just hit my app. But it doesn’t have that much that benefits me as a customer. The location finder will only be used if I am traveling, if I use it then. I like to see the clothes on their, but it is not suggesting anything to me. Sometimes I have to shop in a hurry, so if I picked out a skirt it would be nice to have a blouse suggested to me that goes. I like the community button, but I can just be on my tweet deck to see that, so it isn’t anything better.
